When is the Tournament held?

Generally speaking, the Tournament is held the last Saturday of October.  This year that would be October 29th, 2005.

What is the cost?

The team fee for 2004 is $25.  There is a $4 per quizzer fee for lunch if you choose to eat the meal provided by the host church.

What Scripture material will be covered?

We follow the World Bible Quiz Association materials cycle.  This year we will be covering Romans, Chapters 1-5.  This is a total of 138 verses or 26% of the material.

What style does the Tournament use?

We use modified Youth for Christ style rules.  The rules have been revised since 2003.  You may find a copy of them by clicking here.

What is the general schedule for the day?

bullet8:00 am    Open Mic (Your chance to lead songs, offer devotions or thoughts)
bullet8:30 am    Coaches and Quizzers Meeting
bullet8:45 am    1st Quiz
bullet6:45 pm    Championship Quiz will begin with Awards to follow

How do I register and when is the deadline?

Registration is due by October 21st.

There are 3 ways to register for the quiz:

bulletWEB ACCESS--Click here to register via the World Wide Web!  This is the preferred means of registration.
bulletEMAIL--You can email your registration information.  Please include Group Name, Contact Name, Contact Address and Phone #, when you plan to arrive (Friday night or Saturday Morning), where you will be staying, how many teams you will be bringing, quizzers names (noting whether they are new this season), and if you can bring quiz equipment. Email the tournament director (register@svbql.com) to register.

What is the age limit?

The minimum age limit is at the discretion of the coach bringing the team(s).  However, an upper age limit has been set to senior in high school (or equivalent).  Anyone past this age is encouraged to participate as a coach, official, or other helpful manner.

How does a quizzer qualify for Kickoff?

There is no qualification for a quizzer beyond the age limit.  Tournament administration encourages as many people to attend as possible, especially new quizzers.

How does a team qualify for Kickoff?

The is no specific qualification for a team.  We encourage church and local teams to attend (No All-Star Teams, Please).
